Get Ready for Kick-Off: Windsor Park Collegiate Adds Football Program
We are excited to announce that the ÑÇÖÞ91ÊÓƵ (LRSD) will be launching a second high school football program this fall!
Beginning in the 2025-26 school year, at Windsor Park Collegiate (WPC) will proudly field a Junior Varsity (JV) football team, offering students in Grades 9 and 10 a new and exciting opportunity to build teamwork, leadership, and athletic skills through the game of football. This expansion reflects LRSD’s commitment to supporting student interest and participation in athletics, as well as enhancing school community spirit. Students attending Collège Béliveau will also be eligible to join the WPC JV team while continuing to pursue their French Immersion diploma, ensuring they don’t have to choose between academics and athletics, in line with Strategic Action 2.5 in the Multi-Year Strategic Plan.
“This is more than just a new team—it’s an opportunity to build school spirit, foster leadership, and bring our community together in new and exciting ways,” said Robbie Mager, Principal of Windsor Park Collegiate. “Football will provide our students with another avenue to grow, excel, and represent WPC with pride. We look forward to the energy, teamwork, and sense of belonging this program will bring to our school and the broader Windsor Park community.”
We are pleased to announce that Brett Delisle-Boughen has been named Head Coach of the WPC JV team. Coach Brett brings valuable experience from his time coaching at Dakota Collegiate Institute (DCI), where he helped foster a positive and competitive football culture. With a passion for mentorship and player development, Coach Brett is eager to lay a strong foundation for the new program at WPC.
“Football is a truly unique team sport that is unparallelled in terms of diversity and inclusion; athletes with differing body-types and skill sets are not only welcome on the football field, but crucial to the success of the team,” said Coach Brett. “I’m thrilled to be in a position of leadership as we build this program from the ground up. The WPC Royals will play a bold and nuanced style of football, with the intent of putting our athletes in the best possible position for immediate and long-term success. I’m grateful for the opportunity to immerse myself in a community that is as close-knit and hardworking as Windsor Park. Together we are going to accomplish great things!”
Looking ahead, the long-term vision includes expanding the program to offer a Varsity team and giving students a full four-year pathway to grow and excel in the sport. With strong community support, dedicated coaching, and enthusiastic student participation, we hope to see WPC football continue to thrive and evolve in the years to come.
As we grow football programming in LRSD, we’re also furthering our commitment to Strategic Action 3.6 in the Multi-Year Strategic Plan, which focuses on enhancing active healthy living. Team sports like football provide students with rich, real-world learning experiences that foster collaboration, communication, and critical thinking—skills that serve them on and off the field.
The launch of a JV team at WPC marks an exciting new chapter in LRSD athletics. We look forward to the energy and school spirit the team will bring, and we can’t wait to cheer on the Royals as they take the field in the 2025–26 season!
